The Birds and the Bees
This carving went winging off to its new home! Congratulations to the new owner!
A busy and cheerful flock of American Goldfinch shares the Bull Thistle with Bumblebees. Bumblebees are in decline throughout their range so we like to maintain a few patches of thistle on the farm for them. And of course, all the finch-type birds love the seeds.
Carved from a maple "short" and set into a salvaged and charred pine board this piece is very complicated and therefore it was challenging and fun to make. Oil paint and pyrography add color and fine detail.
